FDPS APPLAUDS SHOPIFY AND BIPARTISAN COALITION OF ATTORNEYS GENERAL FOR MOVE TO BAN ILLEGAL VAPES

Washington, DC—The Foundation for Drug Policy Solutions (FDPS) applauds Shopify’s decision to ban vape sales across its e-commerce platform and commends the bipartisan coalition of 25 state attorneys general for their pressure on the company to act.

“For years, illegal vapes, often from China, have flooded the marketplace,” said FDPS CEO Dr. Kevin A. Sabet. “Shopify’s move to ban the sale of vapes on its platform is an important step in the fight to protect Americans from these dangerous products. Vapes are often packaged to appeal to young people, making this move even more important. This would not have happened without the work of a bipartisan group of U.S. attorneys general, who have made removing these products from store shelves a priority. While we celebrate today, we understand that more work is needed to permanently remove these products from store shelves and to educate young people about the harms of vaping.”
