Prior to his retirement, James Down was vice chairman of Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) and was responsible for the overall direction and management of the firm.
Throughout his career, Mr. Down has been a senior advisor on strategic issues to a multitude of organizations, including UPS, CSX/Sea-Land, AT&T, Agility, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and Merck. He is a past director of Redwood Logistics, Transplace, Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation, ProBuild, Care Group, Horizon Lines, MTG, Oxfam, The CDC Foundation, Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science, The Perkins School for the Blind, and Outward Bound.
Mr. Down holds a masters director certification from the Corporate Directors Group, a national board director education organization. He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
